[dated to November 12]
Oct. 29th, 2012 10:24 pmShe keeps her window open anytime she's home.
Saffron doesn't care that it's getting colder; she's got sweaters, she can put them on. But ever since Halloween night, when she saw him in that alleyway and he ran - or rather jumped - away from her, she's been leaving the window open for Kaine, a sign that he's welcome to come to her anytime.
She still looks, searches the streets, but she hasn't seen him. She knows full well that if he wants to remain unfound he probably can pull that off. Or maybe someone else has succeeded where she failed, she doesn't know. Maybe someone else is taking care of him and he just hasn't had the time to come and see her. Saffron pushes down the hurt she feels whenever that possibility crosses her mind.
It's early evening now, and the oven is providing some extra warmth to combat the chill from the open window. There's a finished pie sitting out on a rack to cool and another still baking, and Saffron is curled up on the couch in a fluffy sweater and jeans, sipping a cup of tea and reading a book.
